What the extension does
Courier Web helps you capture context (selected text, image, or a screen region) and open your AI tool with a prepared prompt. It is designed to be on-demand — it runs when you click, not in the background.
What data we collect
We do not collect personal information by default.
- No analytics and no trackers.
- No background browsing collection.
- No sale of data.
What’s stored on your device
To make the extension work, Courier Web may store some information locally in your browser storage:
- Settings (shortcuts, UI preferences, enabled tools).
- Templates and favorites (Pro feature), saved locally.
- Optional local history of your own prompts/captures (if your build includes history).
When data leaves your device
Courier Web sends data off your device only in these cases:
- Opening your AI tool: When you trigger an action, we may include the captured content in the URL or prepare a prompt you paste into the AI tool. What happens next depends on the provider you use.
- Pro license verification (if you activate Pro): If you enter a license key, the extension may send your key to a verification endpoint to confirm validity and device activation.
Pro verification details
If Pro is enabled, we may transmit:
license_key- a timestamp
- a minimal device identifier used for activation limits
We do not ask for your browsing history, passwords, or payment details inside the extension.
Permissions
Courier Web requests minimal permissions to provide its features:
- Context menu / scripting / active tab — to run when you click and capture the selection or image.
- Storage — to save your settings and (optionally) your local templates/history.
We do not use permissions to track you. The extension is designed for on-demand use.
Third-party services
Courier Web may link to third-party services (for example: Chrome Web Store, Gumroad, or your chosen AI tool). Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.
Data deletion
You can remove local data at any time by uninstalling the extension, or by clearing the extension’s storage in your browser. If your build includes a “Reset / Clear data” option, you can use that as well.
